The 28th Ankara Jazz Festival, organized by the Jazz Association with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, continued with the ‘Janus Szprot Memorial Concert’ held at CP Ankara Hotel.
Polish Ambassador to Ankara Maciej Przemysław Lang attended the ‘Janus Szprot Memorial Concert’ on the eighth day of the festival, which was organized this year with the theme of “Jazz Energy” and brought jazz lovers together with the magical world of jazz in different venues.
Well-known jazz names Sibel Köse, Pawel Kaczmarczyk, Wojciech Pulcyn and Sebastian Frankiewicz took the stage at the concert, which was organized with the contributions of the Polish Embassy in Ankara and started with the opening speech of Özlem Oktar Varoğlu, the President of the Jazz Association and the curator of the festival.
JANUS SZPROT BECAME A BRIDGE BETWEEN POLAND AND TÜRKİYE
Polish Ambassador to Ankara Maciej Przemysław Lang, who attended the concert with his wife Joanna Lang, made a speech to jazz lovers in his fluent Turkish. Ambassador Lang, who started his speech by thanking all participants, said, “I am deeply pleased to be here this evening to commemorate the universal language of music and the memory of Mr. Janus Szprot, an extraordinarily exceptional person. We pay our respects to this famous artist, who formed a bridge between Poland and Türkiye with his passion for jazz. I would like to thank the organizers of the Ankara Jazz Festival from the bottom of my heart and wish you all a wonderful evening.” he said.
VALUABLE MUSICIANS MEET ON THE SAME STAGE
In the concert, which consists of two parts and lasts approximately 2.5 hours, the Polish trio; Sibel Köse, one of the valuable jazz musicians of our country, took the stage together with Pawel Kaczmarczyk, Wojciech Pulcyn and Sebastian Frankiewicz. Köse, who gave a magnificent performance as a soloist, made a statement to ankaranethaber.com reporter during the break. Expressing his pleasure to take the stage in such a special commemoration concert, Köse said, “It is a very nice concert. We commemorate Janus Szprot.
